Answer counts are an estimate from real usage — a typical exchange costs about 1,900 tokens across the question, the documents it reads and the reply. Long conversations cost more, short ones less. Tokens are what the allowance actually counts.

After the trial
What happens when the trial ends
If you have not chosen a plan by then, the assistant stops rendering itself on your website. The script tag you pasted simply does nothing, so nothing on your page breaks and visitors see no error — the assistant is just not there.
Your account stays open. Your documents, your settings and every conversation you have had are exactly where you left them, and choosing a plan turns the assistant back on. We do not delete anything and we do not email you a countdown every day.
We never ask for a card to start, so there is nothing to cancel if you decide against it.
Questions
Questions worth answering first
- Do I need a credit card to start?
- No. The trial is 14 days and asks for an email address and nothing else. There is no card on file, so there is nothing to forget to cancel.
- When does billing start?
- The day you choose a paid plan. The 14-day free trial belongs to the Free trial and to nothing else, and days left on it are not carried over.
- What is a token?
- Roughly three quarters of a word, counted across the question, the documents the assistant reads to answer it, and the reply. It is what the monthly allowance measures.
- What happens if I run out mid-month?
- The assistant tells visitors it has reached its limit and suggests contacting you directly. You are never billed for going over — the ceiling is the point.
- Can I use my own Anthropic key?
- That is what Pro is. You supply the key, Anthropic bills you for the tokens directly, and there is no monthly ceiling from us — you are paying for the platform rather than for the answers. On every other plan the key is ours and the allowance is what protects it.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, from the billing portal, and it takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.
- Where does it get its answers?
- Only from documents on your account — ones you wrote, files you uploaded, or pages it read from your website. It is instructed to say it does not know rather than guess.
